TAPROGGE System
The TAPROGGE System has become established as the synonym of automatic online tube cleaning systems for condensers and heat exchangers by means of the sponge rubber ball process.
According to the TAPROGGE System that was named after its inventor, Josef Taprogge, sponge rubber balls are injected into the waterbox upstream of the condenser inlet via a ball injection. The balls should have a certain oversize compared to the inner tube diameter, so that the cleaning effect is safeguarded. By means of the water flow the balls are pressed through the tubes and are afterwards separated by a strainer section. Subsequently they are transported back to the injection point via a ball recirculation pump and, if applicable, further measuring instruments. Depending on the parameters of the cooling water circuit (for example: tube material, water quality, applied ball type), this procedure is repeated in different intervals until the ball diameter has worn down to the same diameter as the inner tube. Afterwards the balls are caught in the ball collector and exchanged against a new charge of cleaning balls. For further details see our IN-TA-CT® information, chapter ball cleaning.
